Everyone loves going to the movies. The popcorn is buttery, the screens are large and the people are all as excited as you are. Whether you’re in it for a thrilling feature or an animated comedy, there’s something at the movie theatre for everyone. The only problem is deciding what you’re going to watch. Here’s a roundup of the best new and upcoming film releases to help you do just that.
Avengers Age of Ultron:
This sequel to the 2012 box office hit The Avengers features an ensemble cast of some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett Johansson. In this film, the Avengers must work together to protect the world against Ultron, an evil robot of trying to eliminate the human race. The film was written and directed by Joss Whedon, and produced by ‘Walt Disney Pictures’ and ‘Marvel Studios’. Two sequels have already been scheduled to be released on May 4th, 2018 and May 3rd, 2019. The original Avengers movie grossed a total of $1.518 billion worldwide, making it the third highest grossing film of all time. The trailer for Age of Ultron was viewed thirty-million times on Youtube within the first twenty-four hours after it was released.
The Age of Adaline:
This film starring Blake Lively recounts the story of solitary Adaline Bowman, a woman who has been twenty-nine for almost eighty years. The film follows Adaline as she falls in love with philanthropist Ellis Jones, played by Michiel Huisman. As their relationship unfolds, Adaline is faced with a very difficult decision that will change the whole course of her life. The movie was directed by Lee Toland Krieger, and written by J. Mills Goodloe. Initially, Katherine Heigl was cast to play the lead role but dropped out. Natalie Portman was also offered the role but declined it.
The fourth installment in the Jurassic Park film series, Jurassic World takes place twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park. The film stars a new set of characters, played by stars including Vincent D’Onofrio, Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Judy Greer. The movie was directed by Colin Trevorrow and written by Rick Jaffa. There was talk of casting Kristen Stewart as the character of Claire, but she was said to be too young to play the part. The only T-Rex in the film is the same as the one in the original film, and has been living on Isla Nublar for over twenty-five years.
Inside Out is a ‘Disney Pixar’ film to be released in June of this year. It’s a story about the emotions of a young girl who moves to a new home, starring Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Diane Lane, and many others. It is Pixar’s fifteenth feature film, and was inspired by the director’s own experiences with his growing daughter. Each of the characters in the movie are based on a specific shape, and are made of moving particles rather than skin and solid. This gives the characters a unique texture, which was initially supposed to be just for Joy but eventually extended to the other characters as well.
That sums up just a few of the most exciting new and upcoming movie releases. Hopefully this makes the process of buying a ticket just a little bit easier when it comes time to hit the movie theatre within the next few months.
